Terriers Have Successful Week
The contest in Dundas was fast and relatively clean with only one outburst of fisticuffs. Dundas held an edge in play and outshot their opponents 46 to 24. Aaron Demain opened the scoring in the first for Dundas with the assists from Mike Peters and Andrew Cebulak. The period ended 1-0 in Dundas’s favor. Most of the scoring occurred in the second period with Dunnville scoring four times and Dundas twice.
Mitch Barnes, Corey Turner, Jarrod Murphy, and Taylor Schwoob notch the goals for Dunnville with Nolan Speakman, Chris Furneau, Duncan Minor, Tanner McGowan and Ryan Dear chipping in with helpers. Aaron Demain continued to lead the way for Dundas with an unassisted maker in the second followed by a goal from his teammate Cole McNeil who was aided by B. J. Caco and Mike Peters.
It was Dunnville 4, Dundas 3 at the end of second period. The third period slowed down a little and each team scored once. Dunnville’s Jason Dear netted the winner, a stinging shorthander salted the wounds of losing a homestand for the second place Dundas team. The too little, too late goal was scored by Dustan
Curran and assisted from Jesse Healy and Aaron Demain. The dogs took the bone home.
GAME #2 Grimsby December 30, 2009
It seemed like the Peach Kings were going to literally run the terriers out of their rink, which resulted in 5 minor infractions in a row. Dunnville took advantage with Duncan Minor giving Dunnville the lead, scoring from cousin Dan Minor and Jarrod Murphy. Up by one after one period of play, Dunnville extended their lead in the second when Dan Minor finished off for Taylor Schwoob and Jason Dear giving the Terriers a two-goal lead at the end of the second.
Grimsby got on the scoreboard and made things exciting early in the third when Robert Wormald lifted the hometown fans out of their seats when he capitalized from Ryan Roberts and Adam Burt. Tyler Gilbertson closed the door and took ownership of the grease and goalline in the Dunnville end. The team in front of
him responded favourably with three unanswered goals to end the game with an excellent display of a team moving forward together.
Dan and Duncan Minor are showing solid offensive leadership and the rest of the team seem ready to aid and supply depth at both the offensive and defensive end of the ice. Jarrod Murphy, Tanner McGowan, and Taylor Schwoob continue to exhibit a consistent effort and good team discipline. Dunnville came out ahead, 5-1.
